LEGION Model Builder Help

Deleting Layers

Layers can be deleted from either the Object Directory or the Layers Directory. To delete a Layer:

  1. Unlock the Layer(s) to be deleted.
  2. In either the Layers Directory or the Object Directory, right-click on the Layer to delete and select “Delete”. Or, in the Layers Directory, select the Layer(s) to delete and click on the Delete icon .
  3. At the confirmation dialog, click ‘Yes’ to confirm.

The Layer(s) and its (or their) contents are removed from the model.

CAD Layers and Platforms

Each Platform object is associated (i.e., bound) to one or more CAD elements that define that Platform’s edge.

Bound CAD elements are automatically locked by the system so they cannot be easily modified or deleted. Therefore, CAD Layers containing bound CAD have an extra step in the delete process, to explain the consequences and seek confirmation.

When a CAD Layer containing bound CAD is deleted, all affected Platforms are automatically unbound. See the topic on Platform-Train Interface High Level Objects for more information about Platform/CAD binding.

Since this may be unexpected and will leave the model in an invalid state, an extra confirmation dialog is shown. The dialog shows which Platforms are bound to each Layer being deleted, and explain the consequences of deleting those Layers:

Click on ‘Yes’ to confirm Layer(s) should be deleted.

Note: After Layer(s) are deleted, you’ll need to manually rebind the Platforms listed in the alert dialog.

Click on ‘No’ to abort Layer deletion and prevent Platform unbinding.

See the “Modifying Platforms” section of the PTI High Level Objects topic for more information about Platform unbinding and rebinding.
